@Mlweitz this is a sheet bend, just made with a loop and passing the rope back through the working end of the loop when the sheet bend is completed, much sturdier if it loosens since the sheet bend only holds firm under tension, if left untensioned, it may untie itself.
Just FYI, do not use a bed sheet if you are around 290lbs, 130kg, or about 20 stone. The sheet will rip. Use a stronger material. A person does NOT need to be light weight to use a hammock, the material needs to be strong enough. I sleep in a hammock every night and throught I would try this out to have a cheap hammock I can get dirty on camping trips. Will try with a canvas type material and come back with an update. =D
To clarify my statement: you began with a loop, which is called a prussik loop, used in making a prussik knot. You used that loop to make a sheet bend, and because the rope is doubled up, it becomes a double sheet bend. A very nice setup.
@bbelikove
Thanks for your kind comments.
I like that Simple Simon Double knot. Make sure you get it right so it doesn’t slip on you.
You can use the Sheet Bend or a Double Sheet Bend with a Half Hitch to make sure.
Always keep an eye on your knots. It sucks to land butt first on the ground — don’t ask me how I know this!
I like the Clove Hitch on a carabiner myself.
Hey Ray, first and foremost, I love the hammock. I made one with my kids and it’s brilliant. Secondly, I was looking for an easy way to attach a rope (from a tree) to the fisherman loop that could be easily untied. I dont like the idea of just a sheet bend, as I am using thick rope. I certainly didn’t want a bowline or similar to rub and chafe. I was going to use an Ossel hitch, but wasn’t sure I could trust it. I went with a “Simple Simon Double” w/ quick release. What do you think?
@990plm
I dont see a prusik loop here. And it’s not a double sheet bend, it’s just a sheet bend with the end tucked through the loop. Not trying to be an elitist, as I dont know shit about knots and have only been studying for a few weeks. I’m hoping you can clarify. NO offense
@rayd888 Thanks. I’ve found a queen size bed sheet and am now using it instead of the ENO Double Nest. My issue with the ENO is that we have a poodle and they have long nails. I was afraid she would poke through and rip it. ENO is now regulated to travel and the sheet is the one in my office. I think the sheet is more comfortable. It is cotton and much softer. It was also cheaper (salvage from closet). I did not have paracord so I bought 400# cord from REI. TNX
@bestamerica he is only using it to show you how to make the not it says “i use the pillow case for illustration purposes”.
knotts have always i trouble remembering them.

This knot will not come loose. It will actually get tighter when loaded.
Why not just tie a sheet bend?

a blanket bed sheet is a limit weight,,,

@lnorton89
At 0:32 in the video you can see the Double Fisherman’s loop of rope.
Look for the video I have posted on how to tie it. I have many other ways to do this (like with a webbing loop – sewn or tied) on my channel.
Check it out.
dude can you at least show us what your starting with rope wise? no one can tell if your starting with a loop or a tied loop?
Using a prusik loop for the double sheet bend…nice.
Very simple and efficient.
I am going to use this to make a “under hammock” for my gear.
Nice!
dbl fishman on rope to rope ends sheet bend for rope to sheet
dude what is that not! its not the double fishermans bend
the knot is called a sheetbend

@linxdev
Double Fisherman’s Bend (in video responses above)
Can you tell me what knot you are using to keep that cord in a loop?
